At Gobena, we are passionate about everyone being able to Make a Difference. One way to do this is by drinking GREAT coffee for a GREAT cause. Our coffee beans are purchased fresh and in season directly from the farmer. For example, when our Colombian partner harvests their coffee and finishes the drying process, we import the dried green coffee beans as soon as possible. Once the beans arrive, we small batch roast them. We believe that beans should be roasted to bring out their original flavor, as each bean has different flavor notes and requires specific roast temperatures and times. Roasting in small batches allows us to roast each bean to its full potential.

Our coffee is roasted on a Joper Roaster, manufactured in Canelas, Portugal. Joper has been making roasters since 1962 and combines the genuine quality of the European Old World with the most recent technology. Joper symbolizes performance, quality, and value, giving roasters like Gobena a competitive advantage. All of our coffee is roasted and packed the same day.

100% of Gobena's profit goes to helping orphaned and vulnerable children throughout the world. Gobena partners with Lifesong for Orphans to work with at-risk children and young adults. In the summer of 2007 in Ethiopia, Gobena, an elderly farmer, found and rescued a baby girl when she was abandoned near his home. This act of love inspired the adoptive family to start Gobena Coffee, where 100% of the net profits are given to Lifesong for Orphans.
